PROGRAMS AND SERVICES BLACKFOOT CITY/ BINGHAM COUNTY INVESTIGATIONS UNIT Our investigations unit is somewhat unique, as we have combined our investigators with those of our local Sheriff’s Department. This combination has enabled us to expand our resources and improve communication with regards to
BLACKFOOT POLICE RESERVE PROGRAM The Police Reserve Program was established to augment the patrol division of the Blackfoot Police. The primary BLACKFOOT CITIZENS ON PATROL PROGRAM The Blackfoot Police Department fully embraces the community policing philosophy. Our Citizens on Patrol program is a non-profit association comprised of citizens that assist the city and police by observing, recording, and reporting criminal, or possible criminal activity. They augment the resources of the police department by assisting with traffic control during events, extra patrol of school zones or target areas of concern, as well as office work such as evidence. Participants are trained and provided with communication and documentation equipment. Citizens on Patrol is a visible deterrent in our neighborhoods, businesses, parks and school zones. To participate in the Citizens on Patrol Program, pick up an application at the Blackfoot Police Department, 501 N. Maple Street. COPS AND KIDS SCHOOL PROGRAM To foster a good report with the youth of our community, our agency has assigned an officer to each school in the city limits. This officer spends a minimum of two hours per month assisting their school with any questions, school functions or classroom talks. This program is one of many designed to integrate police officers into as many of the different facets of our community as is reasonable as part of our community policing plan. SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM The Blackfoot Police Department in cooperation with the Blackfoot School District has developed a School Resource Officer (SRO) program. This program involves a full time police officer assigned to the Middle School, High School and Alternate High School. The officer is there to assist school personnel and students with not only criminal incidents but with education and social issues. As with the Cop and Kids Program, it provides access to a police officer in a non-threatening situation to the youth of our community. |
